
The FJ151V engine has an OHV (overhead valve) design; cast iron cylinder liner; float type carburetor with fixed main jet and flywheel magneto transistor type ignition system. The engine uses dual-element air cleaner and pressurized lubrication system with spin-on oil filter as an option.
A 65.0 mm (2.56 in) cylinder bore and 54.0 mm (2.13 in) piston stroke give the motor a total of 179 cc of displacement. Compression ratio rating is 8.5:1. The Kawasaki FJ151V motor produced 3.8 PS (2.8 kW; 3.8 HP) at 3,600 rpm of maximum horsepower.
