The Caterpillar C0.5 is a 0.5 L (507 cc) two-cylinders water-cooled four-stroke internal combustion diesel engine manufactured by Caterpillar Inc. for auxiliary power and other special applications.
The Caterpillar C0.5 engine has a cast-iron cylinder block, indirect injection fuel system, electric starter motor and 12 Volts (65 amp) alternator. The Cat C0.5 engine used a belt-driven coolant pump, coolant temperature switch. This diesel motor uses closed-circuit lubrication system with spin-on lube oil filter, lube oil pressure switch, and lube oil sump. The Cat C0.5 is equipped with standard backplate flywheel housing and flat face flywheel.
It has a 67.0 mm (2.64 in) cylinder bore and 72.0 mm (2.83 in) piston stroke. Compression ratio rating is 23.5:1.
The CAT C0.5 engine produced:
- For auxiliary power and other special applications: 10.3 PS (7.6 kW; 10.2 HP) at 2,800 rpm of maximum output power and 27.0 N·m (2.8 kg·m, 19.9 ft·lb) at 2,800 rpm of peak torque.
- U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final, EU Stage IIIA emission standards: From 11.2 PS (8.2 KW; 11 HP) at 2,800 rpm to 13.9 PS (10.2 KW; 13.7 HP) at 3,600 rpm of max. power.
