The Caterpillar C1.7 is a 1.66 L (103.7 cu-in) three-cylinders water-cooled four-stroke internal combustion diesel engine manufactured by Caterpillar Inc., for industrial applications, such as: aerial lifts, compressors, construction, general industrial, irrigation equipment, material handling, mobile earthmoving equipment, mobile light towers, turf and landscaping, underground mining equipment, and welders.
The Caterpillar C1.7 engine has a cast-iron cylinder block, electric starter motor and 12 Volts alternator. The Cat C1.7 engine used a belt-driven coolant pump, coolant temperature switch. This diesel motor uses closed-circuit lubrication system with spin-on lube oil filter, lube oil pressure switch, and lube oil sump. It has an 84.0 mm (3.30 in) cylinder bore and 90.0 mm (3.50 in) piston stroke.
The Cat C1.7 engine is available in two versions:
- Naturally aspirated version: This engine is equipped with precombustion chamber and produced from 32.1 PS (23.6 KW; 31.6 HP) at 2,400 rpm to 35.5 PS (26.1 KW; 35 HP) at 2,600 rpm of max. power. (EU Stage IIIA and EPA Tier 4 Interim Equivalent emission standards)
- Turbocharged version: This engine used electronic (2,000 bar) common rail fuel system, simple pintle nozzle injectors and turbocharger. Compression ratio rating is 18.0:1. It produced 39.4 PS (29 KW; 38.9 HP) at 2,800 rpm of maximum horsepower.
