Toyota 22R-TEThe Toyota 22R-TE is a 2.4 L (2,366 cc, 144.38 cu·in) straight-four 4-stroke turbocharged gasoline engine from Toyota R-family. The engine was manufactured by Toyota Motor Corporation since 1985 to 1988.

The 22R-TE engine features a cast-iron block and aluminum cylinder head with the single overhead camshaft (SOHC) and two valves per cylinder (8 in total). Compression ratio rating is 7.5:1. Cylinder bore and piston stroke are 92.0 mm (3.62 in) and 89.0 mm (3.5 in), respectively. The Toyota 22R-E engine has an electronic fuel injection (EFI) system, turbocharger, and ignition system with a mechanical distributor.

The 22R-TE engine produced 137 PS (101 kW; 135 HP) at 4,800 rpm of maximum horsepower and 234 N·m (23.9 kg·m, 172 ft·lb) at 2,800 rpm of peak torque.

Cylinder head

The cylinder head is made of aluminum alloy which gives it good cooling efficiency. The engine has single overhead camshaft, that is driven by a timing chain and two valves per cylinder (8 valves in total).
