The Kohler CH395 is a 277 cc (16.9 cu·in) single-cylinder air-cooled four-stroke internal combustion gasoline engine from the Command PRO series, manufactured by Kohler Co.
The Kohler CH395 engine has an OHV (overhead valve) design, an aluminum block with cast iron cylinder liners, a horizontal PTO-shaft, splash type lubrication system. This engine is equipped with a fixed main jet carburetor and dependable electronic magneto ignition system. Fuel tank capacity is 7.4 liters (7.82 US.qts, 6.51 Imp. qts).
A 78.0 mm (3.10 in) cylinder bore and 58.0 mm (2.30 in) piston stroke give the CH395 engine a total of 277 cc of displacement. The compression ratio rating is 8.5:1.
This engine produces 9.7 PS (7.1 KW; 9.5 HP) at 4,000 rpm of maximum horsepower and 18.8 Nm (1.9 kg·m; 13.9 ft·lb) at 2,800 rpm of peak torque.
This engine is available in dual-fuel and tri-fuel conversion, as the Kohler CH395DF or CH395TF engine, respectively. It is designed to operate on gasoline and propane or gasoline, propane and natural gas fuels with installation of dual-fuel or tri-fuel conversion kit.
The breakdown of the engine code is as follows:
- C – Command series
- H – Horizontal PTO shaft
- 395 – Numerical designation
