The MMC 6D22-TC has a cylinder block with wet type liners, an cylinder head with OHV (overhead valves), and two valves per cylinder. The 6D22-TC compression ratio is 15.5:1. Cylinder bore and piston stroke are 130.0 mm (5.12 in) and 140.0 mm (5.51 in), respectively.

The Mitsubishi 6D22TC engine produced from 243 PS (179 kW; 240 HP) at 1,500 rpm to 309 PS (227 kW; 304 HP) at 2,200 rpm of maximum output power.
