The Nissan Z22S engine features a cast-iron block and aluminum alloy cylinder head with two ignition plugs per cylinder. It has a single overhead camshaft (SOHC) and 8 valves (2 per cylinder).
The Z22S has an 87 mm (3.43 in) cylinder bore and 92 mm (3.62 in) piston stroke with a compression ratio of 8.5:1. It produced 86 HP (64 kW; 87 PS) of horsepower.
The breakdown of the engine code is as follows:
- Z – Engine Family
- 22 – 2.2 Liter Displacement
- S – carburetor

Where’s the Nissan Z24?
in your forklift David
I have a question,, can you use the head off of a z22 on a z24 block? I have an 82 with the original 2.2 and a friend gave ame a block I’m gojng to rebuild out of an 84 that is a 2.4, but has no head so just wondering if they are compatible cam and all?
I will buy that Z22 head off you if it is a 07W.
